Where is Csabay – American Semi-Finals Slack Results
After the dust settles this morning at the Fort Worth Coliseum, you may have been wondering where the 2016 Canadian Finals Rodeo Champion, Nancy Csabay and her fiery mare Wicked were. I chatted with Nancy this morning to find out.
Nancy in fact was not a scratch, instead she chose not to go, and for a couple of reasons.
“Wicked would have less time off in the winter,” Csabay said. “I would have to start riding her in December, meaning really only one month off and I think she deserves more. I would be away from my family for too long and didn’t want to miss out on anything (my daughter) Kate is doing.
“I think the Canadian Champion should get a bye into the finals of The American like the NFR girls get, not just into the semifinals. When I emailed and told them I wasn’t coming, I also told them that I thought the Canadian Champions should be running with the NFR invitees. It doesn’t count for anything. Not the CFR or the NFR… It’s just money.”
Though she did not run in Fort Worth, and won’t be running for a possible $1M at RFD-TV’s The American on Sunday, Nancy and Wicked will be running at Rodeo Houston and will have her family with her.
At the slack this morning, our Canadian ladies were going for broke, but we saw Lindsay Sears & Katie Garthwaite both knock a barrel, Rylee Shields had a clean run but came up short with a 14.440.
Fast time of the morning was a 13.768 by Brianna Tripanier. You can watch it here.
First place in the first round of the barrel racing slack will pay $13,875.96. First place in the final round of RFD-TV’s The American Semi-Finals will pay a solid $43,543.50.
The top 30 from the Semi-Finals slack this morning will be randomly drawn into groups of 10, set to run over three performances. When all is said and done, the top 10 barrel racers will be headed to Arlington, Texas at the Cowboys Stadium for the chance at $1,000,000, on Sunday, February 19th. You can watch RFD-TV’s The American at rfdcc.com . You must sign up for a one month subscription to watch, or you can listen live with Steve Kenyon on Rural Radio.
