Today we witnessed three qualifiers split a $1,000,000 check at RFD-TV’s The American held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Cody DeMoss, Hailey Kinsel, & Sage Kimzey each took home cheque’s for $433,333.33 plus a Polaris Ranger after winning their respected events, splitting the $1,000,000 plus $100,000 each. Those who were invited to The American were eligible to take home $100,000 for first place, paying out $25,000 for second. Sage Kimzey’s life time earnings are now well over the $2,000,000 mark.

Over the last four years, RFD-TV’s The American has paid out over TEN MILLION dollars, changing the lives of many, for the better. This event is quite a few steps ahead in the right direction for the sport of rodeo with such a large payout in just one day, not found anywhere else.

Canada’s own Jake Vold takes home $25,000 for the second time in three years, where Orin Larsen & Clay Elliot do not go home with a cheque for 3rd or 4th.

In the past we saw the top ten from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association be invited to compete against the top qualifiers, but this year they decided to leave the top ten up to a fan vote. This is why we saw Tuf Cooper in the tie-down roping today. If they followed the previous format, he would not have as he competed in the Elite Rodeo Association in 2016. Also interesting that he was eligible to be on the voting list as he was part of a huge scandal with RFD-TV The American shoot out from 2015.

Also out of the norm for this event was having Sage Kimzey there as a Qualifier as he predominately rides PRCA and Championship Bull Riding’s (CBR) and not in the Professional Bull Riders Association (PBR) which is the association they pull the top ten from.

Seeing the changes to the format this year, perhaps they will continue to make changes, possibly inviting the Canadian Champions right to the American finals, and not just an invite to the Semi-Finals. Anything is possible with this event!

Think you’ve got what it takes? Be on the lookout for the 2018 qualifier dates and ENTER! You might be the next million dollar earner!
