2021 Wrangler NFR Round 7

Ardrossan, Alberta - The reigning World Champion, Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday won Round Seven of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, with a 13.45. The pair hold the arena record of 13.11 at the Thomas and Mack. Hailey remains in the lead of the World standings and second in the average, and Jordon Briggs is the only competitor to keep it clean every night, sitting her number one in the average and number two in the world, about $35,000 behind Kinsel.

In the Bareback it was Jess Pope on All Pink of J Bar J for 88.5 points to win the round. He sits number two in the World behind Kaycee Feild, and number one in the average. Feild is number two in the average race. Just $11,000 between the two of them. Manitoba cowboy, Orin Larsen rode Big Stone Rodeo’s Fired Up for 85.5 and a fifth place cheque.

Round seven of the Steer Wrestling, Tyler Waguespack had drawn the best steer of the pack and finished with a 3.3 to win the round. Wag sits 2nd in the world and fourth in the average. Jacob Talley, was second with a 3.4. Talley sits first in the world but 10th in the average. Canadians Curtis Cassidy and Scott Guenthner had tough luck; Cassidy broke the barrier and Guenthner received a no time.

In the Team Roping, Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves tied with 19X NFR Qualifiers, Clay Tryan and Jake Long stopping the clock in 3.7 seconds. Rhen Richard and former World champion, Jeremy Buhler were a 4.2 for a third place cheque worth $16,111. Richard and Buhler sit fifth in the World and second in the average.

Tough night for the Canadian Saddle Bronc riders. Ben Anderson was flagged for his mark out, Layton Green and Dawson Hay finished with 81.5 tying for the crying hole position. Zeke Thurstons horse took its time coming out of the chute with a few stutter steps that cost him, finishing the ride with a 74, dropping him to fourth in the average. Kolby Wanchuk a NS. Wyatt Casper won the round aboard, Broken Camp from Big Bend Rodeo for 89 points. Brody Cress is third in the World standings and first in the average, which will pay $69,234 at the conclusion of Round 10.

In the Tie-down Roping, Haven Meged and his great mare, Beyonce won the round in 7.1 with a calf that was won on in the first, fourth and seventh round. Caleb Smidt sits first in both the World standings and the average race. Season leader, Shane Hanchey sits second overall and third in the average.

It was a tough night in the Bull Riding where only two athletes would leave with a score. Josh Frost stayed on his bull for 52.5 points and declined the option of a re-ride to win second, which was worth $40,713. Stetson Wright, rode three bulls to finish in first place with a 90.5 ride on Bloomer's High Rise from Pete Carr Pro Rodeo, for $46,374. Stetson didn’t nod on his first bull, his second bull tripped and during his third ride he barely made it to 8, but he walks out making big moves in the World standings race. Sage Kimzey remains number one in the standings but fifth in the average, Parker Breding leads the average but sits 5th overall. Steson is second in the world and third in the average, Josh Frost is third overall and second in the average.

Round number eight starts December 9th at 5:45PM MST.
