2021 Wrangler NFR Round 8

Ardrossan, Alberta - It was Jordon Briggs and Lil Famous Jet, aka Rollo who won Round Eight of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo with a picture perfect 13.45 second run. Briggs has placed in seven of eight rounds this week in Las Vegas. She remains first in the average race, vying for that $69k cheque at the conclusion of round 10, and sits second in the World. Hailey Kinsel finished third, keeping her and Sister second in the average and first overall.

The 5X World Champion, Kaycee Feild won the Bareback Riding, aboard High Heels from Hi Lo ProRodeo for 87.5 points. Feild has won $150k this week and is looking for his sixth gold buckle. Orin Larsen finished fourth with an 84.5 ride.

In the Steer Wrestling Will Lummus had to really reach and managed to stop the clock in 3.4 for first. This puts him ahead of Tristan Martin in the average. Canadian Scott Guenthner split a 6th place cheque four ways for his 4.1 second effort.

In the Team Roping it was a super tough round, where it would take a 4.1 or faster to pull a cheque. Jade Corkill and Clay Smith won with a 3.7 second run.

It was a great night in the Saddle Bronc Riding on Canada night, as we witnessed Canadian cowboy, Layton Green spur down C5’s Virgil for a wicked, 91 points to split the round with Stetson Wright. Ben Anderson finally pulled a nice cheque on Zoaria Hills from Calgary Stampede, finishing third after his 86.5 point effort.

Tie-down roper, Caleb Smidt and his mount Pockets had to go way down the arena 8.1 for a third place cheque. He sits with about a 5 second lead in the average. Hunter Herrin won the round with a 7.1 second run. Shane Hanchey finished with a 4th/5th split with Ryan Jarrett.

In the Bull Riding, Parker Breding marked a 92.5 on Lets Gamble from State Smith Pro Rodeo. Breding has rode 6 of 8 bulls, two ahead of the pack.

Round number nine starts December 10th at 6:45PM MST.
