2021 Wrangler NFR Round 6
Ardrossan, Alberta - Ivy Saebens and JLo won round seven of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo with a 13.43 second run, for a $26,997 cheque. World Champion, Hailey Kinsel and Sister were a 13.55 to be second. Kinsel sits first in the World and third in the average, where Jordon Briggs is second in the World and first in the average. Briggs and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi are the only two barrel racers to be clean over six rounds.
In the bareback riding Canadian cowboy, Orin Larsen had been consistently just out of the money, not pulling a cheque, that is, until round six, where he spurred Night Gazer Pickett of Pro Rodeo Co. for 91.0 points and a $26,997 cheque. This bumps him to sixth in the average, and he sits 11th in the World standings. Kaycee Feild is first in the World and second in the average, Jess Pope is second in the World and first in the average.
Though Dirk Tavenner is in Las Vegas competing as an NFR Rookie, you would never know as he has won three of the six rounds, pocketing over $100,000 thus far. This puts him second overall and fifth in the average. Tyler Waguespack, Will Lumus, Tristan Martin, and Tavenner, are the ones to watch in the gold buckle race as they inch closer to season leader Jacob Talley. Curtis Cassidy was a 5.8 and Scott Guenthner was a 13.5, both out of the money.
It was the fastest round of the team roping, where we watched three teams rope in under four seconds. To get a cheque in this round you had to be no longer than a 4.2. Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich were a 3.6 to win the round. Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler clocked in at 4.0 seconds for a fourth place cheque worth $11,321.
The Saddle Bronc Riding was the Wright Show in round 6.. We watched Ryder Wright take the win aboard Border Town of Hi Lo ProRodeo for 89.5 and the $26,997 cheque, followed by Stetson Wright in second with 89 points and Spencer Wright third with 87.5 points. Canadians Layton Green and Kolby Wanchuk split the last place cheque with their 85.5 point rides. Zeke Thurston was 82.5 and Ben Anderson finally got on the board tonight with an 81. Zeke sits fourth in the World and second in the average. Ryder is first in the World and sixth in the average. Brody Cress is third in the world and first in the average.
Cory Solomon got his first go round win with a 7.1, tying for the fastest time of the week. Caleb Smidt is currently in the drivers seat of the world standings as well as the average. Shane Hanchey is sitting second overall and fourth in the average.
Creek Young won round six aboard Ugly Wish from Canadian contractor, Macza Pro Rodeo, for 90.5 points. Sage Kimzey is still first in the standings, and is third in the average, where Parker Breding sits fourth overall and first in the average race.
Canadian breakaway roper, Shelby Boisjoli, just missed out on her first World title - finishing up third overall. South Dakota cowgirl, Sawyer Gilbert claimed the World Champion title. Gilbert won $19,532 after placing in five rounds during the Finals; she won $71,654 at pro rodeos in 2021.
