Kirsty White CFR 2015
Big Valley Alberta resident Kirsty White took home $24,203.34 after running at 45 CPRA rodeos this season with her mare Special Tack (Plain Special going back to Dash for Cash X Cutters Brass Tack going back to Major Bonanza) AKA “Racey”. Kirsty says she is the quirkiest horse she has ever owned, being extremely sensitive, & reactive. “I have to play the game her way most of the time, but she always gives me everything she has , extreme moves.” Finishing the season in fourth position, this will be the third Canadian Finals Rodeo White has attended, though she has had several misses before. In 2012 she missed it by just $19!
How would you describe Racey’s style?
She has a very correct style, kind of crawls around the barrels, strong on the left side but perfect on the the right, hence I go left.
Has your routine changed with Racey as you prepare for CFR?
My routine is always the same, but I will spend ore time just hanging out with her this next month , I always slow work her it’s our program, she is better with slow work .
What has been your favorite Canadian rodeo this year and why?
Cinch Pro Rodeo Canada Series Finals. It was awesome! Great prize money , I ended up winning it. They treat the rodeo athletes great!!!
What is the best piece of advice you were ever given regarding barrel racing?
That all young horses are always traveling through stages on there way to being who they are, my advice is not to identify to much with it , it will pass, eventually if we do our work they will get solid!!
With all the miles made, varying ground conditions, and expenses, what kept the CFR dream alive for you?
My horses unwavering heart and commitment, she would never give up and neither would I. Great to have an equine partner like this. She was very consistent with winning that keeps a guy bought in.
What was your favorite memory from this season on the road?
My favorite memory was on the East Run, my traveling partners Kareen Warren and Tracy Macdonald , were driving and my dog Pepsi gave birth to three puppies! We called them Morris, Kennedy, and Maple. They were adopted right then and there.
What are your favorite pair of boots and favorite lipstick/lipchap?
Justin Boots and Burts Bees
Special thanks to my vet who sponsors me as well , Ty Corbiel , he’s brilliant and caring !!!
