BLACKFALDS, Alberta - We all knew a sub 17 second run was going to happen, and tonight was the night! Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday ran a 16.92 to claim round number five at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Arlington, Texas.
Tonight brought us more knocked barrels than we’ve seen at this finals, with Emily Miller-Beisel, Stevi Hillman, Wenda Johnson, Cheyenne Wimberley and Lisa Lockhart all knocking. This round also brought new horse changes including Tiany Schuster getting on Famous Mic Guy Ver, Wenda Johnson on SR Industry Titan, and Ryann Pedone getting on NFR Qualifier, Tracy Nowlins mare, Dolly Joe. Pedone tragically lost her stallion, Johnny Reb Jackson in a trailer accident last night after round four.
In the bareback riding, Orin Larsen had a nice ride, but those 82 points were not good enough for a cheque. World Champion Clayton Biglow took the go round win on Pickett Pro Rodeos, Top Flight for 89 points.
To the steer wrestling, PRCA Steer Wrestling Horse of the Year, Tyson carried Matt Reeves to the go round win, where Reeves split first with Jace Melvin. Tyson also carrying Blake Knowles to a 3rd place cheque. Curtis Cassidys steer put up quit the fight, stopping the clock at 15.0.
It was lightening fast tonight the team roping, we watched Clay Smith and Jade Corkill win the round with a 3.6, the fastest time of the week. Levi Simpson and Shay Carroll pick up a cheque for 5th with their 4.7 second run. Kolton Schmidt missed his steer to receive yet another no time.
