BLACKFALDS, Alberta - Heck of a night in round number two of the Wrangler National Finals rodeo in the barrel racing, as we witnessed a clean round, not a single knocked barrel.

Jimmie Smith was first on the ground and made a deadly run clocking a 17.04, the fastest of the night. Hailey Kinsel and Sister not far behind with a 17.09. We saw Pozzi-Tonozzi make a horse change, from Mona to a body clipped Katniss. I believe there will be a horse change for Emily Miller-Beisel from her trusty grey horse Chongo to her bay Beau, and for Brittany Barnett from her sweet mare, Paint to Frenchmans Pick aka Pei. I am thinking we may see a horse change from Ryann Pedone as well.

In the steer wrestling Curtis Cassidy was the only Canuck to get pick up a cheque, clocking a 4.3 second run, tying for 4/5 with Dakota Eldridge. It was Tyler Waguespack and Bridger Anderson who won the round with a 3.8. Both Jacob Talley and Jules Hazen refused to give up when the steers took them for a bit of a wild ride, knowing that getting a time and staying in that aggregate is so important at the finals.

It was Tanner Aus who got the go round win in the bareback riding with an 87.0 on Wilson Sanchez from Hi Lo ProRodeo. Orin Larsen was a 75.5. Fingers are crossed he can pull a cheque in round number three.

Bull rider Sage Kimzey has slipped from number one to number three in the world standings, as he was bucked off of Big Red from Pete Carr Pro Rodeo, where Stetson Wright was an 88.5 to win for a second night in a row.

Taking home the W in the team roping was Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves with a 3.8 second run. Both Kolton Schmidt and Levi Simpson received no time.

Ryder Wright spurred one down for 90 points in the saddle bronc, where Big Valley, Alberta’s Zeke Thurston was an 82.5, not enough for a cheque.
