What is your main mounts registered name, bloodlines, and does he/she have any quirks?
I have two main mounts for barrel racing, Isle Be Wright On (Hooey) is a 12 year old gelding who is by Isle Slide Wright On and his dam is A Jac To A Queen. Hooey is a very pushy kind of horse and it’s his way or no way. My other main mount, Ima Rebel Master (Coy) is a 7 year old gelding who is by Tazboonian Rebel who’s sire is Pepto Taz and his dam is Hollys The Master and dams sire is Pepinics Master. Coy is a spooky type of horse around new people but likes his people. Breakaway main mount is “Irish Gold Rush” (Rancho) he is by Ima Gold Rush out of Mr Irish Drift. Ranchos quirk is he is a bit difficult to saddle.
What is your go to saddle, pad, and bit on your main mount?
I use a Robbie Phillips barrel saddle, synergy pad and use sherry cervi short shank twisted wire dogbone gag bit.
What is your breakaway horse’s story?
My breakaway horse is actually my sister’s horse and she bought him as a green broke 4 year old. Bradi has done the rest with him and he was a barrel horse before he was a breakaway horse. He made money as a barrel horse at the pro rodeos with my sister and I ran him one round in the barrels in 2018 at the CFR.
What do you do to keep a sharp mental edge in the game of rodeo? How do you stay motivated throughout the season?
There are so many high and lows over a rodeo season and for me I like to set small goals for myself throughout the rodeo season and think one rodeo at a time or one run at a time. I think when you set small goals it makes it seem more achievable than to set big goals and feel like you have to climb a mountain. I believe when you love what your doing or when you have a passion for something and enjoy doing it is easier to stay motivated.
What does your feed program consist of, and how do you keep your horses in shape? What is your riding routine usually like?
The amount I ride my good horses in a week depends on how hard we have been rodeoing or travelling that week but I like to spend lots of time long trotting them in the field and lightly working barrels throughout the week and sometimes giving them other jobs to refresh there brain. I don’t feed lots of supplements just a vitamin and mineral supplement called Eberglo and Alfalfa.
What is the best advice you’ve been given regarding life, rodeo, horses, or roping?
A big thing for me this year was just not giving up on your dreams and goals and keep grinding.
What has been your most memorable barrel or BAW run over the years, and what made it memorable for you?
My most memorable run was in 2019 at the spring rodeo in Medicine Hat, when I had set the barrel back up to win my first ever pro rodeo win on Hooey.
Who was your travel partner this year, and what is your favourite thing about your travel partner?
I travelled all year with my sister. It’s pretty cool to be able to travel with my sister everywhere because it’s a built in travel partner and we are always there to support each other and she’s pretty good at cleaning all my messes up and keeping me in line.
What does it mean to you to have the Breakaway Roping at the CFR?
It’s something that I didn’t even dream of doing because it was never a thing until now so to be able to be at that stage breakaway roping is really amazing. Thank you to everyone and all the committee that put in the time and effort to have breakaway roping at there rodeos.
What does it mean to you to qualify for two events with your sister, the same year?
It’s definitely a surreal feeling. To make it there is something I feel very fortunate to be able to do but to be there along side my sister after rodeoing and being there to support each other all year makes it that much more special.
“Thank you to my parents for all the help and support throughout the year. Thank you to my sister and boyfriend for letting me ride their horses. Thank you to all my sponsors for your support. All are amazing companies and highly recommend checking them out! Canyon Rigging, Back On Track, Specialty Risk Insurance/Western Lifestyle Insurance, and Eberglo vitamin and mineral supplement.”
