Bradi Whiteside is an all around hand. CFR50 will be her fourth qualification in the barrel racing, and her third qualification in the breakaway roping. Whiteside won Medicine Hat, Drayton Valley, Grand Prairie in the barrel racing, and in the breakaway won Falkland, Handhills, Grimshaw, Merritt and Split the win 4 ways in Coleman.

What does it mean to you to have your horse be voted Horse of The Year by your peers?
This is an honour to me for my peers to see what I see in Teacher! I appreciate this horse so much for everything he has done for me.

What is it that makes your horse so special to you?
Preppies Bit of Jazz aka Riddle is very special to me because he was my first futurity prospect that I bought as a 2yr old from Jack and Kelly Hart. I’ve been able to do everything with him, he taught me a lot about the futurity world and made dreams come true and continues to do that for me.

What has been your most memorable run in 2024, and what made it memorable for you?
In 2024 my most memorable rodeo was Grand Prairie, I able to win the barrels and tied for second in the breakaway behind my sister winning it. This made the drive home from Grand Prairie fun!

What was different about your rodeo season this year compared to last year or other seasons? Did you face any challenges this season?
This rodeo season was really different from last year without having Sis in the trailer. This definitely made for its challenges. When riddle needed a rest towards the end of this season I am super thankful for Kylie and Lochlan giving me the opportunity to run their horse Coy which helped me make another CFR.

Tell the readers something good that happened to you this season, other than placing at, or winning a rodeo.
This year I got to watch my dad get inducted into the Canadian Cowboy Hall of fame, this was really special to me.

Who is your travelling partner, and what do you enjoy most about travelling with them?
My traveling partner is my sister Kylie, I’m thankful to have a built in traveling partner. However, occasionally she will eat my ice cream though without asking.

What is the best advice you’d give to readers, about horses and or competing?

Cherish the good horses because they don’t last forever.

Appreciate being able to win but an even bigger thing is you have to overcome the losses and stay positive, there is lots in rodeo.

I believe a positive attitude is key to success.

Favourite Canadian rodeo this year, and why?
Armstrong, because the atmosphere is hard to beat!

Which of the other CFR Qualifiers horses would you swing a leg over if given the chance and why?
That is such a hard pick because they’re all so nice, but I’d have to pick Famey! In breakaway, I would pick Shaya Biever’s horse Bullet, because he scores good and runs hard.

What can you or your horse not live without on the road?
Well I’ll have to be honest and say my phone because it has so much on it lol.

Mental game; how do you stay mentally strong in the rodeo game with many ups and downs?
I’ve always been told mental preparation is huge. Rodeo is for sure hard on the mental game, when I’m going through a rough patch I just try to look forward to the next rodeo and not dwell on the past. Trust your homework and your horse.

Do you have any up and coming prospects, and or, what do you look for in a prospect that you could share a little about with readers?
I have a few prospects coming up that I’m really excited for!

What was one thing a committee did this year that you appreciated the most?
I appreciate all committees because they have all put so much work into putting rodeos on for the contestants.

Who is your inspiration or mentor and why?
I have a few different people that I look up to from the futurities to rodeos. Sherry Cervi would be one that comes to mind, I love how she trains her horses and is successful on them at rodeos.

What is your advice for someone who wants to take a shot at making the Canadian Finals Rodeo?
Dreams don’t come true overnight. Work hard and never give up.

I would like to say thank you to my boyfriend Ben Bamford for letting me use his horse Teacher all season in the Breakaway Roping.

Thank you to my parents for always helping me out with whatever I need.

Thank you to my sister Kylie and Lochlan Christianson for letting me ride Coy when I have needed him.

Thank you to these great companies that have helped my horses and I all season, Canyon Rigging, Back On Track Canada, Kailani, Eberglo, BI Canada
